Vettä spa is creating a spa experience rich in Nordic culture and tradition that follows the steam, cool, relax cycle.
Following this 3 step cycle allows your body to sweat out the “hot negative energy” and feel recharged with a cool, fresh energy.

STEP ONE (5-10 minutes)

Steam | Löyly [STEAM, VAPOR, FUMES, VAPOUR]

The first step involved in a true thermal experience begins with heat.

Get comfortable and sweat it out in one of our saunas or by stepping inside the multiple steam rooms we have available. Sit back and unwind as your mind and muscles receive the care and attention they deserve.

Through excessive perspiration, pores are stimulated and opened, releasing any unwanted toxins from the body. Struggle with muscle tension? Melt stiffness and aches away while your body destresses in the heat. Your mind and body will thank you as you come out with that post-sauna, feel-good glow!

Heat is a crucial step in the thermotherapy process, but you may need time to adjust to its intensity.

Prepare to sweat beyond what you could have imagined possible. Let’s put it this way: if you are dripping from head to toe, you’re doing it right! This is a healthy sign and exactly what should be expected.

Whether you prefer the moist steam room or dry sauna, pay attention to how you feel. While feeling extremely hot is normal, avoid dizziness with ongoing hydration. Nothing tastes better than a cold glass of water as you drip in sweat! Of course, if the heat is too much to bear, we encourage guests to remove themselves temporarily for health purposes. As always, listen to your body.

STEP TWO (15-20 seconds)

Cool | Kylmä [COLD, COOL, CHILLY, CHILL, FRIGID]

From one extreme to the next, now is the time to shock the body (in a good way) with a quick dip in the cold pools.

This second stage of the thermal process isn’t for the faint of heart but it’s necessary to lower the body temperature after the extreme heat. For those who typically avoid the cold waters, we promise you can sustain it for a few seconds. Talk yourself into it, meditate or do a brave happy dance before taking the plunge. Whatever you need to do, don’t miss this very important step!

Whether you immerse yourself in an icy waterfall or dip in one of our cold pools, your body needs to cool down, returning to a moderate temperature. The shock to your system will immediately tighten your skin, closing your pores completely. From there, your senses are stimulated, white blood cells are produced, and you’ll feel some much needed relief from those achy muscles.

STEP THREE (20 minutes)

Relax | Rentoutua [RELAX, UNWIND, SIT BACK, WIND DOWN, LOOSEN UP]

The most anticipated part of the cycle for many is the glorious relaxation step.

Whatever draws you in, choose between our indoor and outdoor relaxing stations that include both comfortable loungers and hammocks.

Take a much-needed rest next to a warm, cozy fire and let yourself drift off for a while. The goal of this stage is to achieve the highest level of relaxation possible. Wrap yourself up in a hammock and sway yourself to sleep. It doesn’t get much more serene than enjoying the fresh air and the beautiful outdoor scenery as you relax in midair. Spending quiet time in a hammock is known to lower your blood pressure and reduce stress in both the body and mind.

Try each of these relaxation options or get settled into one in particular.

Whichever opportunity you choose, this rest period allows your previously built-up adrenaline to slowly decrease, leaving you feeling calm, fulfilled and rested as endorphins (those happy hormones) are released.

Rebalance your body and mind in a tranquil environment that will be difficult to leave. If you find yourself having difficulty with sleep, all this R&R is sure to help you achieve a deep and quality restful night.
